What are dentures?
Dentures are removable appliances that replace most or all of your natural teeth. Dentures have a flesh-colored base that sits over the gums. Replacement teeth are attached to this base. Dentures can help restore the appearance and functionality of the mouth. Dr. Mohamed Waheed can help you determine if dentures are right for you.

How long does it take to get used to dentures?
It is natural for new dentures to feel awkward or uncomfortable for a while. This stage can last from a few weeks to a few months. Things like eating and speaking will take some practice before they feel natural. While your cheeks and tongue become accustomed to holding the dentures in place, they may feel a little loose in your mouth. While you are getting used to your dentures, excess saliva flow is also common. All of these things should improve and then cease over time.

How do I clean my dentures?
Brush your dentures daily to remove food particles and plaque. When you’re not wearing your dentures, place them in a water or a denture cleanser soaking solution. Do not use hot water, as this can warp the dentures. Also, be sure to brush your gums, tongue and palate every day before putting your dentures in.
